I haven’t been posting updates on my personal blog lately because quite frankly, I haven’t had time. I feel bad about that, because writing has always been something I've enjoyed, and I like reaching people through my words. I’ve been busy with travel (storm chasing and backcountry adventures in Montana, among other things) and I’ve been even busier creating content for online publishers, which is my day job.

In case you didn’t know, I’m not a photographer. I'm not an Instagrammer. I’m a blogger/photographer. A slashie. I shoot for fun and I occasionally take photography gigs, but the bulk of my work is creating snarky copy for a few highly-trafficked websites that cover news, lifestyle and yes, occasionally travel content. From salty desserts to Justin Bieber, I’ve written about pretty much everything since I entered the online publishing biz in 2008. Over the years I've written two TV pilots and I once ran a moderately successful blog chronicling my dating life in Los Angeles, but the last three years have pushed me back into a space where I can't even remember the last good thing I wrote just for me.

Today I’m on my way to Salt Lake City for the Outdoor Retailer show, and after that I’ll be meeting up with several friends and road tripping all over western North America. After Utah I’m driving from Montana to Alberta to Washington to Oregon, and then back down the California coast over the course of the next two months. I’ll be using my weekends to find wifi and work, but anything goes during the week and I’m looking forward to getting some time with nature — and some time to sit down and write. And oh yeah, I'm basically living out of my Jeep for this whole adventure. I know some things are going to be a challenge, but embracing life on the open road and this whole new sense of minimalism is exactly what I need right now.

I’m beyond excited for dips in the lake, campfire chats and crazy alpenglow, but a little concerned about bears and running out of good driving tunes (and underwear) midway through this adventure.
